After the hustle and bustle of the Holidays, when we ring in the new year it’s always nice to take a deep breath, take advantage of a few days off work, and imagine what the next 365 days will hold. I use this time for planning my year and reflecting on what worked and what needs to change. (This year I’ll be joining my rockstar biz coach for a one-of-a-kind pet photography retreat in Puerto Aventuras, Mexico!)

This is also when we write out our resolutions to eat healthier, exercise more, and clean out the garage. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve resolved to do one thing or another but find rich foods and time cozied up with my journal so much more inviting.  I’ve pretty much given up on formal “resolutions” – I prefer to think of them as baby steps forward in my grand plan to become a more fulfilled and giving person.

But that got me thinking – some resolutions are so much easier to keep than others and when we do keep them we feel soo good about ourselves! Well, why not resolve to do things you’ll enjoy in 2018? And what brings us more joy than the time we spend with our furry companions?

Here are 3 Pet-Friendly resolutions for 2018!

Make #OptOutside more than just a way to avoid the madness of Black Friday shoppers. It’s no secret that being outside is great for our health. It gets us moving, the sunshine does wonders on your mood, and our adventure companion’s joy of exploring the outdoors is positively contagious. Resolve to #OptOutside all year round even if it means bundling up! (Just imagine how luxurious that hot bath will feel when you get back home!)

Make New Friends

Breaking out of our comfortable social bubbles can be difficult and unnerving. As a textbook introvert, I totally understand that it can be draining! But it’s good for us to experience new things and meet new people. Resolve to make new friends by participating in pet benefits and charity events, joining a dog walking club in your area, and/or simply introduce yourself to the other furbaby parents at the park. Not only is it good for you, but Fido will love the extra play time with new friends! Oh, and don’t forget to join me at the Lansdowne Yappy Hours this Summer too.

One-On-One Time With Your Pets

Whether they like to play, be brushed, or go on walks; our pets love us and value the time spent with us more than we realize. Resolve to spend more one-on-one time with your pets this year. Not only will they appreciate the extra time with their humans, but this time spent with your favorite furry-beings will help you to relax, unwind, and have fun. Everyone could use a little bit more of that!
